Songs of the Week #6

July 26, 2009 § Leave a comment

I’m half asleep but here are some quick songs.

1990s “Vondelpark”– The quirky Scottish band rocks the Echo & the Bunnymen guitar style, produced by the one and only Bernard Butler. You’ll love it.

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart “Come Saturday”– I saw the New York band play on Friday, a great, but short show. This is my favourite of their songs, poppy, fuzzy, lo-fi and upbeat. I even got a t-shirt signed.

Jarvis Cocker “Black Magic”– Off of Mr. Cocker’s first solo album, it samples “Crimson and Clover” in a way that encourages your head to nod in time. I’m seeing Mr. Cocker play tomorrow and I’m anticipating it like nothing else!
